Hey,
When I started making videos, I was obsessed with camera gear.
Over time, however, I’ve realised that it’s better to own fewer pieces of gear.
Less is more.
If your equipment gets in the way of your creative workflow, that’s when you should reconsider it.
Here are the tools that I have found to be essential for the type of work I do:
Camera — Sony a7iii
Wide angle lens — Sony 16-35mm 2.8 GM
Macro lens — Sony 90mm 2.8 Macro
Video light – Godox VL150 + Aputure Light Dome II softbox
Microphone – Røde VideoMic Pro
Tripod – Geekoto
L-bracket – SmallRig
SD card – SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB
Computer – 14” MacBook Pro (M1 Pro Base Model
Headphones – Apple AirPods Pro
While I have a lot of other pieces of gear that I use regularly, these are the things that I can’t live without.
Instead of getting more gear, try to identify your 10 core pieces of equipment and invest in those. It’s better to have less but higher quality gear.
